It's exciting and fun to have a new quilt pattern up on the Bake Shop. Stop by and download the tutorial.  The quilt is easy and made up of a new fabric line by Deb Strain for Moda called Seascapes. Beautiful colors ranging from aquas to deep blues.  This one uses a log cabin variation called Courthouse Steps, Jelly Rolls and a panel printed with shells, sea life and the word SEA.

I ended up with an extra Jelly Roll after making the quilt and the generous folks at Moda are OK with me giving it away. So please post some sort of beachy comment here in the next few days and your name will go in the hat for the drawing on Monday, the 4th of February. The winner will be announced the same day.  Tell us the name of your favorite beach, beach hangout, best beach vacation... for all of us starved for sun up here in the gray and wet Pacific Northwest.

Whitehaven beach off of Australia is the most beautiful beach in the world! It has the white powder sand with the turquoise shades of water just like your quilt.

I'm not a big beach vacationer but once in a while, hearing the waves crash whether in rain or sun, and the smell of the sea is nice...

Wow, what a great give away and quilt. Although I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of the beach, I finally decided this year to at least try a weekend at the beach! We will see how it goes. I've got to learn to relax, so this is a start!

I'm in Alaska, and love, love, love the beach! Best vacation ever was to Oahu and spending 3 days on the beach at "Sherwood Forest."

Live in Delaware and am very close to it's beaches. Love being able to dart down to the shore spontaneously to listen to it's soothing sounds. Actually popped into my LQS earlier this afternoon and saw the Seascapes fabric in person for the first time. What a beautiful collection! Would truly enjoy benefiting from Moda's generostity. Thanks for having this give away.

Being on the beach is the best! Sunny or stormy - it's always good. Living near Long Beach,Vanc Island was fabulous as was visiting Hawaii and Australia. Am happy that we still live close to the beach.

Being very fair skinned, I'm not one for sunbathing. I love the stormy, dramatic beaches... my favorite spots are watching the waves crash over the jaggy rocks in Big Sur, CA, or spending endless hours on the beach hunting for colorful gems of sea glass on a foggy day in Fort Bragg, CA.

Since it's almost 20 below zero where I'm hanging out these days, a visit to a sandy, warm beach sounds wonderful! The beautiful colors in your quilt reminds me of days like that.

Thank you, my dear sister who has had a horrid divorce had to move from her beloved beach home, this would make a lovely quilt to help her heal and remember a place she still loves. I know she will love the colours and pattern.

I love the beaches around Monterey, California. I used to go up in the dunes, wrap up in a quilt and drink coffee while listening to the sea lions and watch for whales. Your quilt design reminds of the majestic Pacific shore - I would just love to wrap up in it and whale watch again ... sigh.

This is a hard question as I've been to Hawaii - North Shore if you like surfing; California - especially Big Sur or the Central Coast; Gulf of Mexico - Alabama is the best and Florida isn't too bad and then the East Coast - especially around New England area but that could be for a Fall or Winter vacation. Beautiful quilt and thanks for sharing.

Love this pattern. With living in Ohio and not taking vacations I unfortunately haven't been to any good beaches. But would really like to go somewhere with sand and heat during this cold winter!

I love your quilt and how you used the panel! I could lay on the beach all day, especially in Hawaii. There is something so incredibly soothing about just sitting there watching the waves and listening to the ocean while you're warming yourself on the sand. I guess that's why I like your quilt so much :) Thanks for sharing!
