Baby One Block Patterns

As I told my friend from Kauai, I know there are no bears in Hawaii. But the idea for Hula Bear just came out anyway... Hula Bear features one oversized, bear paw quilt block for the background. Added to that is a large, easy to make applique with gentle curves and complete with flower for the ear and hula skirt. Blanket stitch embroidery around Hula Bear and it's features adds a lot of charm to the quilt. Look in show and tell for a picture of Hula Bear Lei Po `o (Hula Bear with woven leaves head lei). The lei applique is included with the pattern and makes a great option for a little boy's quilt. Full-sized templates and instructions for 2 applique methods are included in this pattern series. For best results, choose fabrics that contrast enough to feature both the bear paw quilt block and make the bear stand out. Use your Hawaiian prints to add fun. Finished size is approx. 40" x 40".
