I love Japanese fabrics/textiles and recently found a fun company in Portland, OR that makes all kinds of things in their studio/store. And they sell fabric too! I ordered a piece of vintage wool. Made the bag below almost immediately after the mail arrived. The bag pattern is "The Potato Chip Bag" designed by Paula Hughes. I just made it a bit bigger. Love the pattern in this wool. Here's a link to Kiriko Definitely plan on visiting them the next time we're in Portland.
The project on the right is something I work on and put away, work on and put away. The sashing in between the blocks is a geisha pin print. The plan is to make a wider border of the pin print around the piece. Then appliqué some of the flowers and leaves from fabric with the white background. Appliqué and quilting will be done by hand so this will also take some time. I'm using all vintage, hand-dyed, Yukata in this piece. Fabrics are from Okan Arts A great source for beautiful vintage Japanese cottons!
