This was my November challenge. It's finished and it's still November??? I sometimes have trouble sewing these kinds of projects so good practice and I also wanted to see if the pattern and size would work for a gym bag. Turns out it might work with some enlargement. The height and depth are good but it might be nice to make it a little wider for a gym bag.
Pattern is the Bohemian Satchel by Tina Lewis in the Winter issue of Stitch magazine. It should be fun to carry around for the holidays. The bag is the same on the other side except for the buttons on the handles (fir trees on the other side). For this version, I went to the stash and found a left over piece just large enough with enough scraps to make handles. It's from Moda Home and the name might be Santa Calls. It's almost canvas weight with a smoother texture. An idea for you for leftover Christmas fabric in your stash. Thanksgiving Sale - Wednesday, November 27th - Monday, December 2nd. $5.00 instant downloads at our etsy shop on Hollie the Snowy Owl Ornament and the Extra Gingerman Applique. Introducing Hollie the snowy owl. She measures almost 6" tall and hangs very nicely on the tree or a package. Made with hand dyed, felted wool, sparkling embroidery threads and press on crystals. Fun to do and ornaments make great small gifts for the holidays. There is time to make several. Think I will try tweed wool for the body next time and use white for the face and star. Pattern is available at the etsy shop for easy download.
I'm really excited to be sharing another quilt on the Moda Bake Shop. Be sure to stop by and download the instructions. The pattern is for a small wall quilt but could be easily made into a pillow, runner... Lots of different things. I may try some different things with it and will post as they get finished.
